The Board of Directors
The Non-Executive Board of Directors is vetted and ratified by members during the AGM to provide the direction in the vision, mission and goals in consultation with the CEO; establish governance systems and policies; provide fiduciary oversight to protect the organization’s assets and protect members’ interest. The Board Charter, Code of Ethics and the Articles and Memorandum of Association guide Board actions and decisions. The CEO is head of the Secretariat and Secretary to the Board

John Kismir
John Kismir is a community conservation leader; nature explorer and a communications expert working with the United Nations. He is a co-founder of Ramat Wildlife Society, a network of community conservancies in Kajiado County.

Dr Margaret Otieno
Dr Margaret Otieno is the National Coordinator of Wildlife Clubs of Kenya and serves in Boards of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife and Elsa Conservation Trust, and the Deputy Chair for IUCN Commission on Education and Communication. Margaret holds a PhD in Climate Change and Education for Sustainable Development.

Sam holds an MSc degree and is pursuing a PhD in Environmental Policy with over 28 years of experience in government and Non-Profit Organizations. He has worked with Kenya Wildlife Service, WWF, and USAID East Africa.

Shamini Jayanathan
Shamini Jayanathan is a barrister of twenty-eight years’ experience, and a committed conservationist. She is the founding director of Justice Initiatives Global, a Kenyan non-for-profit. She first became known to the conservation community in 2013 in supporting them to navigate the criminal justice system in Kenya to tackle the scourge of international wildlife trafficking. Her work in this sphere has been replicated globally and she remains a recognised source of expertise and support in relation to Kenyan efforts to revise legislation and tackle prosecution and trial and other policy. In recently establishing a board, she is closely familiar with the needs of governance, accountability and transparency.
