The Kenya Fisheries and Management and Development Bill 2023 passed through the first reading in July 2023. The bill's sponsor is the majority party's leader, Hon. Kimani Ichung'wah. The bill provides a framework for the development, governance, and investment of the oceans' and fisheries' resources. The bill intends to align the management of the fisheries sector for the sustainable use of fisheries resources for the benefit of the people of Kenya and governance at the county and national levels. CAK is planning to convene stakeholder meetings to review the bill and prepare a memorandum for submission to the National Assembly.

The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife (MoTW) under gazette notice No. 4858 dated June 6, 2019 issued directives to ban use of plastics bottles, straws and related products within protected areas in national parks, national reserves, conservation areas and any other designated wildlife protected area with effect from June 4, 2020.
To implement this directive, the MoTW has circulated an implementation plan for the ban of single use plastics in protected and request for review by stakeholders and submitted comments on or before June 29, 2020.
