Briefly describe your organization :	LAPA is a nonprofit organization working in Kenya to change minds, hearts and laws to enhance the legal status and protection of non-human animals. We work in the courts, with communities and policymakers to transform, strengthen and enhance the law to secure and protect the environment and animal species. We recognize the interconnectedness of human health, animal health, and the environment and fashion solutions that embrace this intersectionality. 2. OUR APPROACH a. Strategic Litigation We file constitutional petitions and judicial review applications to protect animals and the environment to challenge interests adverse to animal interests and their status. b. Policy & Advocacy We advocate for the enhancement of the welfare and status of non–human animals, the habitats they live in and the communities that live with them. We identify, document and expose various animal welfare issues and demand action to reform them. c. Science & Research We conduct powerful research pivotal for driving informed decision-making, shaping policy, and advocating for change. Our high-quality research equips NGOs, the government and the public with the analyses and insights needed to understand the root causes of issues we address, evaluate the impact of their programs, identify emerging trends and challenges, and contribute meaningful solutions to the communities and causes they serve. d. Legal Assistance & Support We advise and offer legal assistance on regulatory, policy, and justice issues for nonprofits, communities and the public working with and for non-human animals. We support them to unlock and uphold their rights and navigate the complexities of the legal system.
