Briefly describe your organization :	Ulinzi Africa Foundation is East Africa's first non-profit that focuses on ranger welfare and remote areas. Currently, UAF focuses its efforts on the preservation of the Tana Delta ecosystem, a certified UNESCO - RAMSAR site, and a KBA (Key Biodiversity Area). Our vision is to transform the Tana Delta from a security sensitive area and poaching hotspot into a safe living ecosphere for people and wildlife. Today it is a largely unprotected area facing a myriad of threats including Poaching, Human-Wildlife-Conflict (HWC), deforestation, illegal settlement for slash and burn farming, and overarchingly, instability and insecurity. Beyond being a KBA, it is also a designated IBA (Important Bird Area), along with hosting elephant ‘maternity wards’ and ‘retirement forests’ where the elephants seek shelter and vital nutrient rich flora only found in the Tana Delta. Without the preservation of this area teeming with biodiversity, entire ecosystems will be lost, along with the promising enterprises the land would provide for its people.
