Briefly describe your organization : | The Green Belt Movement (GBM) is a pioneering environmental organization founded in 1977 by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Wangari Maathai. It is dedicated to environmental conservation, community empowerment, and sustainable development in Kenya. GBM has been at the forefront of promoting tree planting, environmental protection, and women's rights, impacting millions of lives through grassroots mobilization. By integrating conservation with community development, GBM has successfully championed reforestation, climate change mitigation, and the protection of Kenya's critical ecosystems, while also empowering communities with the knowledge and tools to advocate for their rights and improve their livelihoods. |
